“Down to Earth” was one of those phrases that I really had trouble understanding, when I moved to the US.  It’s one of those things that doesn’t really translate very well, I guess. Hmm…scratch that. It actually doesn’t translate at all. Fun fact: when I moved to the US, I’d watch reality TV in order to learn English (like ANTM, back in the day when it was the sh*t). Well..okay, I knew some English, but I was so embarrassed about having an accent or getting something wrong, that I barely spoke during my Sophomore year in High School. I’m convinced that some of my teachers thought I was a mute (some of them seemed to raise their voice when speaking to me, as if that would make me understand them better?).
