I have heard so many great things about MAC’s Prep + Prime lip primer, but it wasn’t until I tried it for myself that I realized how awesome it really is.
This color-free base is meant to be worn under lipstick. Upon application, I usually let it “sit” for a bit until it becomes tacky and then I follow up with my lipstick. If you love matte lipsticks, but hate the fact that some of them are overly drying, then you must give this product a try. It’s smoothing and moisturizing at the same time, best of all it makes your lipstick last much, much longer.
To be quite honest, when I first tried this primer, I did expect for it to help out with smooth and even application but I did not realize how much of a difference this would make when it came to staying power of my lipstick. One of my favorites, NARS Audacious lipstick in Anna is a beautiful color with awesome formula, but it only lasts on me for about three hours. After using MAC lip primer under, I went through a whole day at work without having to touch up my makeup. I went out to lunch, drank water throughout the day and when I got home from work my lipstick still looked flawless. I also noticed that my lipstick wasn’t transferring as heavily onto my water bottle and tea cup.
Another cool thing about this primer is that it makes bolder colors really pop, makes them look even brighter. One of the cons would be the fact that it’s a bit fragile of a product as it can break off easily. The price may also seem a bit high for some, at $16.00, it’s the same price as MAC’s lipsticks. I think that whether this is worth getting would depend on your budget, but I totally recommend it as it really helped me turn some of my favorite lipsticks into super-longlasting ones.
Did any of you guys try MAC’s Prep + Prime Lip Base?

May 30, 2015 at 12:47 pmI’m always reaching for mattes so I don’t have to top them up (I’m so lazy haha), but it means I neglect 75% of my lipstick collection, I’ll definitely need to give this a try!

May 30, 2015 at 3:31 pmI have a couple of MAC lipsticks and have a voucher to spend (so happy!) but no idea what to spend it on. I’m so indecisive when it comes to colours so this may just be what the voucher is spent on. Thanks for sharing!

June 1, 2015 at 7:04 amOne trick i know works like a charm: put concealer on you lips as a “primer”. I also have NARS Anna and i put concealer+lipliner in El’agua (or however it is called) and then Anna = lasts as least half a day with “heavy drinking”. However, i have exact same problem with all these making my lips dry. I would defo buy prep+prime asap if it moisturizes at least a bit!
But i must say compared to similar lipstick, Audacios are super staying as they are and even 3 hours for me is a lot, MAC maybe stays one hour on me

June 2, 2015 at 10:04 amMy lips are usually way too dry to use concealer on them. This doesn’t work just with NARS lipsticks though, I used it with MAC and it worked just as good.
