There is so much to like about the Chanel Perfection Lumiere, I’m not quite sure where to start.
As you might have guessed, this right here is one of my favorite foundations. I remember that when I used it for the first time a few years a go, I refused to use anything else for the next couple of weeks. Chanel promises that this foundation is: “effortless to apply, with seamless blendability for a naturally flawless effect, this breakthrough foundation is the ideal all-day, everyday formula suitable for all skin types in a diverse range of 20 shades. Oil-free. Dermatologist-tested. Noncomedogenic.“
Things that I love about this foundation:
-The packaging, let’s start here. It’s a glass bottle with a pump, which I of course love.
-The fact that it matches my skin tone very closely. It’s very difficult for me to get a close match when it comes to foundation. In the past, I was color matched by professional makeup artists and many times had to return foundations to the store because of how poorly they matched me. Finding a foundation that is a close match, is a big deal for me. The shade that I use is Chanel Perfection Lumiere 20 Beige.
-The texture and finish. The texture is so smooth and velvet-like, it blends beautifully into the skin. The finish is also very interesting because it’s sort of a mix between natural and semi-matte.
-It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, even when the product is layered.
-It works great with oily skin.
-It feels incredibly smooth on the skin, sort of similar to when using a silicone-based makeup primer or moisturizer.
-After a couple of hours of wear, the finish changes from natural/semi-matte to sort of a luminous one. After about 4-5 hours of wear is when other foundations start to look very oily on my skin, but Perfection Lumiere just sort changes that finish into a luminous, glowy one. It’s like instead of getting that usual oiliness that comes up after a few hours, I get this subtle glow.
-It does last quite a while on my skin, but usually I do use a bit of a mattifying powder, just around my nose, chin and forehead.
Things that are not so great:
-I wish that Chanel Perfection Lumiere had a bit more coverage. The coverage is definitely build-able, but I just wish that I could get a bit more coverage with just one, quick application.
-It dries quite quickly so it needs to be blended in fast. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and it’s sort of to be expected with this having somewhat of a semi-matte finish, but it definitely can be quite annoying at times. My favorite way to apply this is with a moist beauty blender.
-It does not work well with dry skin. Well, you can’t have it all, can you? Chanel Perfection Lumiere definitely works better with normal and oily skin types than it does with dry ones. When my skin feels dry, I try to stay away from Perfection Lumiere and usually go with MUFE Mat Velvet.
Chanel Perfection Lumiere is a great foundation when you want long-lasting, but very natural-looking finish. Like I’ve said before, it’s great for oily and normal skin types, but I’d stay away from this if your skin is on the dry side.
Have any of you tried this foundation?

August 5, 2015 at 4:19 amI’m yet to try anything from Chanel, it’s just one of those completely luxurious brands. I don’t think I would mind the light coverage but I do wonder how the semi matte finish would feel on my skin. I might pick up a sample soon to get it out x

August 5, 2015 at 8:14 pmIt’s really a mix between a semi-matte and normal finish. It looks very natural, but feels quite velvety. Definitely get your hands on a sample, if you can!

August 5, 2015 at 5:21 pmChanel has great products. This one sounds perfect for that summer glow. I have an olive skin tone that changes from summer to winter, so I hear what you are saying about matching foundation.

August 5, 2015 at 8:19 pmThey’re usually very nice, I just wish they wouldn’t use so much fragrance and alcohol in their face products.
