I couldn't believe it... about two minutes after I read your post, my site crashed! My host is GoDaddy. Their technical team figured out the problem (and answered other randon questions), but now I'm waiting to see how long it takes to be up and running again. I'm not ready to switch yet, but apprecite your sharing your experience and recommendations! If you have any advice on image sizes, please share. (The latest I've read is that it should be twice the width of your site, to make the images clear on Apple retina displays).

I am hosting with GoDaddy and so far haven't had any issues. My site was down twice for about thirty minutes, but not related to a spike in traffic or anything else and it sorted itself out quickly, so I am not even sure where the problem was, it might have been with wordpress.
But then again I don't get that mich traffic, so it would be interesting to see how it fares should that ever happen.
