For me, it has to be nail art. At one point I owned around 100 nail polishes and would spend hours, every single weekend playing around with them. I had all kinds of tools and kits with glitter, dotting tools, color foils, rhinestones- you name it. I always found it very therapeutic and it was just “my thing” and something I was kind of known for. I loved “doing” my friends’ nails as well, but somehow always did a much better job when working on myself. Not to say I wasn’t determined though- I once spent an hour finishing my sister’s artsy manicure even after she fell asleep on my couch during the process. There was just something very soothing and maybe a little addicting about it- once I started working on creating a “look,” I couldn’t stop or get out of that zone. I’m not exactly sure why or even when I stopped. Maybe it had something to do with getting older, maybe it was my schedule becoming too packed, or, maybe […]

I just can’t help that I love those berry and mauve pinks so much. Of course, this little group would not be complete without at least one “in your face” kind of pink, because, well, it is spring, after all. I stayed as far from those kinds of colors as possible, for a very long time. Without a doubt, I felt the same way about red lipstick. There was just something loud and intimidating about them. These days I love how easy it is to change things up, just by switching to a bright lip color. You don’t really have to do much else, maybe other than a touch of blush to balance things out. L’Oreal definitely makes some of my favorite drugstore lip products. Their Colour Riche Matte Lipcolour lipsticks have an amazing, very comfortable formula with a creamy matte finish. I wouldn’t say that the finish is completely matte, as it does have a bit of creaminess to it. I love the scent of these lipsticks, the shade range […]

I always get so impatient when it comes to winter-spring transition. Usually, we jump right into summer, but this year, Mother Nature has outdone herself. I already had the AC running in the house mid-February, while last night I actually put on the fireplace… SPRING BEAUTY: BODY LOVE This constant back and forth doesn’t always play nice with my skin. Sometimes it’s the simplest of products that do the trick- as you already know I can’t live without my Salux Cloth (because loofahs and sponges are heaven for bacteria and they don’t always get to dry completely between uses in the moist bathroom environment-yuck) I still love to use a nice body scrub once a week. My favorite is the Palermo Coffee Scrub– while amazing, it’s pricey and can get pretty messy, like all coffee scrubs. Right now I’m loving Dove’s Exfoliating Body Polish. It gets the job done and OMG does it smell amazing- my favorite is the Macadamia and Rice Milk. I always follow with Amlactin– if you get razor bumps, dark spots under your arms, ingrown hair or extremely dry skin, this body lotion will help transform your skin. The truth is, I could probably talk about body […]

I can easily say that it’s been a while since I was this excited for spring. My dry-skin hates me and while there is a bright side (no need for a setting powder or midday touch-ups), I’m not sure which one’s more uncomfortable to deal with: extremely oily skin that leaves your makeup looking like it’s literally melting off your face after a few hours, or extremely dry skin that feels tight and well… dry. Meh. I can’t say that I miss having my makeup melt off my face at the end of a workday. Finding a good base product that has minimal coverage and won’t dry me out hasn’t been easy; which is why I’m sticking to an old school favorite: Chanel Vitalumiére Aqua. I love that it feels like skin, but also makes it look even and natural. It’s been really interesting to see my skin go through this change, because this foundation used to look awful on me when my skin was oily and did completely nothing for me. Now I reach for it almost every single day. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Beige is such a beautiful product (one that seriously lasts forever). I love it because I […]

Build Me Up Buttercup by Deborah Lippmann ($18.00) A pretty little pastel yellow that’s not too overwhelming or intense is such a perfect shade for Spring. And I don’t even care that it’s snowing right now. Build Me Up Buttercup is such a creamy, pale yellow that goes so well with my fair skintone since it isn’t’ TOO yellow (if you know what I mean). I’ve been looking for a pastel yellow like this one for a while now (ever since I saw Shay Mitchell sport it on a cover of some magazine) and I thought I found it back in July when I came across Unicorn by Sinful Colors. I think I might have been wrong because Build Me Up Buttercup is THE most gorgeous pastel shade I’ve ever used. I found the formula to be very rich and creamy, maybe a little runny- ever so slightly- with a smooth, glossy, creme finish. Two coats worked beautifully for me, but I could have also pulled off one coat as well -easily- because of how rich the formula is. The formula is also infused with biotin, green tea extract, and aucoumea, formulated without parabens and sulfates, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, […]
