What’s in My Makeup Bag: April

Not sure if it’s just me, but sometimes some of those most-loved products I once found amazing just kind of stop working for me after a while. Usually, when this happens I take a little break and when I go back, they once again, blow me away and I find myself thinking “why did I ever stop using this??” This happens every single time. This is exactly how I’ve been feeling lately about one of the very few powders I’ve been using for the last year or so. Never thought I’d like anything nearly as much as my beloved Diffused Light, but I guess you really should never say “never.” Finding a finishing powder that helps set makeup, keeps those slightly oily parts in check while also making sure that my very dry skin stays happy, is quite a mission. My favorite new makeup purchase this month definitely ticked all the boxes. Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder is pure perfection. There really isn’t anything I don’t love about it. The formula/texture is silky smooth, very fine and weightless; it has a natural, sheer matte finish and […]

What’s In my Makeup Bag: January

The following content includes referral links. Read my disclosure policy for more info. So far this month, it’s been all about a subtle, natural glow, mauve lips and… stepping a bit outside my comfort zone with shimmery, metallic eyeshadows. I have a lot of love for matte finishes, especially in the eyeshadow department, but I have to say that I now have a newfound appreciation for pretty shimmers. When thinking of a subtle, all-over glow, one of the first products that come to my mind is Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid.  It’s perfect for adding that sheer, delicate glow to your base. I love mixing this with my foundation, sometimes I’ll just mix it in with a moisturizer or Chanel’s Vitalumière which is an ultra lightweight and sheer foundation- it’s a perfect combo for that natural, healthy glow and minimal coverage look. The packaging is beautiful, but it does make it a nightmare to get any product out once you start running low. Chanel D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in New Moon (97)– my love for cream shadows continues. New Moon is a gorgeous mauve with copper shimmer and a very soft, creamy texture. I apply it with a brush […]

What’s in my Makeup Bag: December

It’s that time again… the last WIMMB post of the year.  On the one hand I feel (just like pretty much everyone else… probably) that this year went by incredibly quickly. Aaaand… on the other hand, I feel like I’ve been stuck in 2018 for ages. So many things that I was hoping to happen didn’t, and so many things that I’d never think would happen… happened. BUT, that’s a topic for a whole different post. Let’s talk makeup. Funny thing about makeup. There have been days when I’ve been feeling so down lately that the only thing I had the energy to reach for was a tinted moisturizer. There have also been days when I felt so down… but then I’d reach for my makeup bag and think “you know what? This winged liner kinda does make me feel a bit better.” I was actually surprised to see that I was still able to get those wings to look nice and even, after such a long break. I guess it’s just like riding a bike, eh? Of course, nothing compares to my beloved Tom Ford […]

What’s in my makeup bag: November

The following content includes referral links and/or gifted products (*). Read my disclosure policy for more info. Both September and October went by without a “WIMMB” post and here we are, already in November. This month’s makeup bag does contain some products I already talked about- like my favorite Lip Colors for Fall, Urban Decay’s Naked Cherry collection, and Pixi’s Matte Last Liquid Lips. I won’t waste your time talking about those products again, but feel free to check those posts out for my reviews and swatches. Now, let’s see what else is new. Isn’t she a beauty? Last year, I skipped on the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette- which was the Vol 3 release. This year, Hourglass released two: Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4 and Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette. I knew I probably wasn’t going to get both, and to be honest, I wasn’t even tempted to. The Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette features six, all-new shades with 5% of profits going to support the Nonhuman Rights Project. SO, it was a no-brainer when it came to deciding which one to get. The Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette includes Ambient Lighting Powders in Soft Light and Filtered Light, Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Golden Bronze Light, Ambient Lighting Blushes in Nude […]

What’s in my Makeup Bag: July

Well, my makeup game has been pretty minimal and effortless lately, but surprisingly, I still failed to fit everything I reach for on the daily basis, in my makeup bag. There are two Glossier products I’ve been reaching for pretty much every single time I go for a foundation-free look: Cloud Paint in Beam and a Generation G lipstick in Cake. Beam has beautiful peach tones that work surprisingly well with my skin tone. Blush is one thing I always struggle with, but these are so easy to work with. I was a bit disappointed when I saw how small these were, but you only need a tiny drop of product to add some color to your complexion. These blend really nicely, so there’s no blotchiness. I also picked up one of their new Cloud Paint shades in Storm, which is a pretty rose shade. I always mention that when it comes to Glossier, some of their products are great, some are a bit overhyped, some of them did not work for me at all. BUT, the Generation G lipsticks are […]
