Cold, windy, dry weather and chronic dry lips don’t mix very well. Shocker, right? Those with chronic dry lips will know that while they’re usually dry, regardless of the season or weather, winter can take it to another level. This is why I love reaching for tinted lip balms that give me just a touch of color while also nourishing and hydrating at the same time. Not many lipsticks will give you that, which why I tend to stick to tinted balms during the day- either alone or worn under lipstick. It’s hard to pick just one and on any given day I carry at least five different kinds in my handbag. These are some I currently rotate between. Sara Happ The Lip Slip: One Luxe Balm– deeply hydrating balm formulated with natural restorative oils that leaves lips feeling smooth and soft. It also adds a beautiful, baby-pink touch of color and delicate shimmer. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment– these tinted balms have been among some of my favorites for years. They’re hydrating, smoothing and help with uneven texture and dryness. With SPF 15 they also offer sun protection (which your lips need too, and it can’t be overlooked during winter) […]

I just can’t help that I love those berry and mauve pinks so much. Of course, this little group would not be complete without at least one “in your face” kind of pink, because, well, it is spring, after all. I stayed as far from those kinds of colors as possible, for a very long time. Without a doubt, I felt the same way about red lipstick. There was just something loud and intimidating about them. These days I love how easy it is to change things up, just by switching to a bright lip color. You don’t really have to do much else, maybe other than a touch of blush to balance things out. L’Oreal definitely makes some of my favorite drugstore lip products. Their Colour Riche Matte Lipcolour lipsticks have an amazing, very comfortable formula with a creamy matte finish. I wouldn’t say that the finish is completely matte, as it does have a bit of creaminess to it. I love the scent of these lipsticks, the shade range […]

As soon as fall arrives, it’s suddenly all about matte finishes, once again. I mean, to be honest, when it comes to lip products I love a good matte formula more than anything else, regardless of the time of year. Usually, there’s no worrying about your lipstick feathering out, bleeding, or feeling tacky or sticky. Burberry’s Liquid Velvet will probably always be my “matte favorite” and its formula is among some of the longest lasting matte formulas I’ve tried so far. Maybelline’s Super Stay Matte Ink liquid lipsticks were also a pleasant surprise as so many matte-lovers, myself included, fell in love with their formula. There’s also another “liquid matte” favorite that can be found at the drugstore: Pixi Matte Last Liquid Lip.* I fell in love with Pixi’s Matte Last Liquid Lip formula a while ago. Pixi recently added four new shades to the collection (Real Red, Peony Pink, Berry Boost, Orange Red and Bare Beauty) so, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to swatch them all and review the formula. […]

Fall Lip Colors to Love The following content includes referral links and/or gifted products (*). Read my disclosure policy for more info. Like pretty much every year, late September brings in the rain, the wind, and then some more rain. … and I’m loving it. Fall has arrived, at last, and I couldn’t be happier. This, of course, means changing up your wardrobe, updating your skincare for cooler months ahead, and changing up a few things in the makeup department. Lipstick is, without a doubt, the easiest way to switch things up and update your look as the seasons change. It’s one of those “Fall things” I always look forward to every year. I’ve heard and read so many amazing things about Urban Decay’s new Lo-Fi Lip Mousse and, yup, it was all true. It has such a unique, weightless and soft formula- it’s unlike anything I’ve ever used before. The finish is so velvety, even if you build up the color, it still feels weightless on the lips. For now, I’ve only picked up Amplify– which is a pretty, bright red on me that’s perfect for this time of year. I will definitely be adding the rest of the colors to my collection. […]

That was one of the first makeup products I remember falling in love with as a teenage girl. I remember seeing my mom and her friends getting ready to go out to dinner and realized just how magical a lipstick can be. Long before the world knew who Kylie Jenner is, I saw one of my mom’s friends instantly make her rather thin lips look fuller, just by using a nude lip liner and a tinted lip balm. I was so intrigued and curious, she actually ended up buying me my very own, first lip liner. A lipstick itself though was what I found a bit more intimidating at first. Now, it’s one of my favorite things about makeup- applying lipstick. It’s always that final touch, that step that just puts everything together and it not only can change the way you look but also the way you feel. Lip balms… we all hoard them, don’t we? I mean, as someone who suffers from chronically dry lips, I actually do use a prescription ointment, but you know… A girl needs to have some […]
