There is something very powerful behind the words “I am.” Whenever you say to yourself “I am…,” what follows is influential; whatever follows is an affirmation, something you eventually begin to believe in. Do you ever find yourself thinking “I am so stupid for doing that,” “I am so tired of all of this,” or “I am not good enough?” Thoughts like these seem to come very easy, especially on those days when you might be feeling down about yourself or when some things in your life that aren’t going as planned. The thing about life is that not everything always goes as planned and things life failure, mistakes and disappointment will happen. Here are five things to tell yourself when life gets the best of you. 5 THINGS TO TELL YOURSELF WHEN YOU’RE FEELING DOWN I AM WONDERFUL AND UNIQUE, NOTHING CAN REPLACE ME Some of those thoughts or statements about ourselves are ones we hold subconsciously. We’re not always fully aware of them or the power they carry. It’s very easy to feel small, inadequate or simply disappointed with yourself when you’re having a bad day or when nothing seems to go your way. Whenever you say “I am,” especially when […]

“No one is coming to save you.” I remember a friend saying this to me many years ago. The particulars of that conversation are foggy, but I can tell you that while at first hearing that felt a bit like a slap in the face, those words would later end up changing my life. The unfortunate thing about these life lessons though, is that sometimes we forget all about them. Every once in a while I will find myself falling into this same pattern of assigning blame or using some of those less pleasant things that happen in life, as an excuse. That’s usually when I have to once again remind myself that change doesn’t happen on its own; that a goal without a plan to take action ends up being just a wish that never comes true. That’s when I have to remind myself, once again, that no one is coming to save me. So, how do you find what’s holding you back in life, exactly? How do you learn to let go? Well, sometimes you have to take a nice, long look within- more often than not, that “thing” that stands in your way, is you. THE BEAUTY […]

How to Rock Your Goals in 2019 I can’t stand the word “resolutions.” When I hear “resolutions,” I think immediate failure and discouragement. I think of that one year when I promised myself I’d learn to play guitar, go for a run every single day for the entire year, or stay away from red wine for at least six months. Yeah, that last one was never going to happen. So yes, there is something (…rather obvious) about the New Year and it being all about a “fresh start” and all that, but shouldn’t we strive to set yourself new and exciting goals (not resolutions), all year round? When I was much younger, I thought that I will reach a point in my life (somewhere in my early twenties, preferably) where I’d have it all figured out. A point, where everything just falls into place, where there aren’t any struggles, doubts, and disappointments, failures or setbacks. Where there aren’t any more goals I’d want to set for myself. Well, as it turns out, you grow up and find out that that’s just not true. It’s not how any of it works in life. Every year brings changes, challenges, and both create […]

How to Chase Your Dreams Most of us go through life, waiting for something to happen. Sure, we dream. We close our eyes, we see ourselves living the life we’ve always wanted to live, doing things we’ve always wanted to do. For some, it’s being able to stay at home and raise their children. For others, it’s having a flourishing career; or traveling the world, or living on a farm. We then open our eyes and think: “dreams are for stupid and naive“- and that’s where it all begins. The smallest thought, one limiting belief can crush your biggest dreams. The thought that you don’t have what it takes, that it’s too late for you, or that your goals and dreams can wait. Call it doubt, call it fear, call it lack of motivation. Sometimes, we fail to accept the fact that we are the ones responsible for our lives and, consequently, our own happiness. HOW TO CHASE YOUR DREAMS YOUR ATTITUDE How often do you hear someone (perhaps even yourself) say “I really want to ____, but I know that I will never be able to do it because ___” or “it’s easy for her/him to say/do, I never had that opportunity”. It doesn’t matter how many […]

Your time, my friend, is one of your most valuable personal assets, do you keep track of where it goes? Some of these things that you need to stop wasting time on just… happen. We do those things mindlessly, not giving them a lot of thought. What would it feel like to have more freedom, more time to do things you truly enjoy? 10 THINGS YOU NEED TO STOP WASTING TIME ON REGRET Regret will not change anything. It won’t make your current circumstance or situation any better or different, regret will not change your past. It’s simple as that. For the most part, regret keeps you stuck and if you spend too much of your time living in regret, you will find it impossible to move forward. It’s this moment, right here, that you have to make worth living. Do you want to spend your energy thinking of what could have been, or would it be better if you took that energy to work and create something that can be? BEATING YOURSELF UP Stop wasting time by bashing your body, by telling yourself you’re not good enough, stop telling yourself you’re stupid for going one direction instead of the […]
