All The Fresh Glow I Need- Perricone MD No Makeup Skincare

The following content includes referral links and/or PR gifted products. Read my disclosure policy for more info. It’s a “No Makeup Skincare”…. but it’s definitely makeup. I’ve come across quite a few hit-and-miss products in the whole “no-makeup makeup” department over the years. Some don’t give enough coverage to even be called “makeup,” others melt off your face after just one hour. Even though I do have a few old favorites I like to use, in recent months I’ve been slowly falling in love with Perricone MD No Makeup Skincare… makeup. Perricone MD relaunched their “No Makeup Skincare” collection earlier this year. I haven’t tried the original version (at least not as far as I can remember?) but I do have quite a lot of love for what’s inside these pretty little glass bottles. The idea behind Perricone MD No Makeup Skincare* collection is skincare-meets-makeup. And, in their own words: “No Makeup Skincare is designed to improve the appearance of skin’s texture and tone over time, while instantly providing a beautiful, no-makeup look. The No Makeup Skincare line contains Perricone MD’s proprietary Neuropeptide, DMAE, Vitamin C Ester, Alpha Lipoic Acid and Acyl-Glutathione ingredients. It helps streamline your routine with multifunction products.” After […]

Light Bases For Spring & Summer

What’s your perfect, warm-weather foundation? When it gets extremely hot, I just forget makeup altogether. When the sun is out, and the temperatures are slowly rising, when it starts to feel a little humid, I put away all of my thick, creamy, full-coverage foundations and dig out some of my favorite lightweight bases. During warmer months, I love using foundations that feel light and airy on my skin. Foundations that make my skin look like skin. Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer With creamy water-proof formula, the Sensual Skin Enhancer isn’t exactly what I’d call a “light base” but since it’s such a multitasking product (you can use it as concealer, highlight, contour, foundation, tinted moisturizer) it also works great when mixed with a primer. Mixing a very small amount with primer or moisturizer will thin out the formula and create a lightweight base that’s very long-lasting and has a nice coverage. Clarins True Radiance Perfect Skin Foundation Weightless with decent coverage, True Radiance foundation from Clarins has a lovely finish and formula. Having skin that’s both oily and dry at the same time, means that finding foundation can be a pain, but this works really well with my skin. […]

Tips for finding (and applying!) that perfect foundation

Finding that perfect foundation can be a real struggle, amiright? It’s a struggle that I am way too familiar with. Having fair, problematic skin that also has a lot of redness means that I’ve always had trouble finding the right formula that would match both my skin tone and my skin type. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve had my makeup done at a department store, saw myself in the mirror, thought “damnnnnn, looking flawless!“, only to get in the daylight and see that my face doesn’t match the rest of my body. Not a cute look. It took some practice, but I finally know exactly what to look for in a good foundation. Sooooo, I thought that today, I’d share a few things that I’ve learned along the way. There are three things in particular that you should look at when looking for that perfect foundation: texture (cream, powder, liquid, etc.) finish (dewy, demi-matte, matte, etc.) and coverage (sheer, medium, full). You have take things like your skin type into consideration, but you also need to pay attention to what goes underneath your foundation. Your skin type will always affect the way your foundation looks when applied on your skin- what can […]

Your skin’s favorite Winter foundation

If dewy, breathable finish and healthy looking complexion is something that you’re after, look no further. For as long as I can remember, the only type of foundation I liked was full coverage. Lately, however, I’ve been reaching for lightweight bases like Guerlain’s Meteorites Baby Glow Foundation. One of my recent favorites is also Pür Cosmetics Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation* ($39.00) PÜR Cosmetics’ encapsulated water complex delivers Swiss Alps-sourced water to hydrate the skin for lasting radiance while providing silky, medium coverage. Encapsulated Water Complex: Utilizes phospholipids (a major component of skin cell membranes) to deliver the purest water sourced from the Swiss Alps deep into the skin for long-lasting hydration. Coverage: Medium, buildable coverage. Texture / Finish: Lightweight, silky texture that creates a fresh, youthful appearance. Ceretin Complex: Helps smooth, firm and lift the skin’s appearance for a hydrated, ageless complexion. What I like:  -the packaging is awesome. Because the formula is so light and water-y, it might seem that you can accidentally dispense way too much product, however, the design of the dispenser is very unique: it dispenses one drop at a time -gives light to medium coverage and leaves skin looking fresh and dewy which is definitely something my skin can […]

Matte foundations- my top 8

Best matte foundations.  You know, I’d never thought I’d say this, but I miss having oily skin. I thought that having oily skin was a nightmare, but that was because I never knew what it was to have dry and flaky skin. Ever since I started the tretinoin treatment, my skin did a complete 180 and I could no longer get away with using some of my all-time favorite foundations, all of which happen to have a matte or semi-matte finish. As my skin is slowly adjusting to the treatment and coming back to feeling and looking normal again, I thought I’d talk about some of my favorite matte foundations that I’m really excited to start using again soon. Make Up Forever Mat Velvet + – I already reviewed this gem right here and it’s definitely my number one when it comes to foundation. The finish is semi-matte/natural rather than flat out matte, which means that I can still get away with using it, if I use a rich moisturizer the night before. The coverage is build-able and the color match is just perfect- I use shade #30 and #35 when using a fake tanner. It’s long-lasting, provides great coverage and […]
