Blog tips: How to get 1,000 email subscribers in 30 days

How to get 1,000 email subscribers in 30 days. The following content includes referral links. Read my disclosure policy for more info. If you don’t yet know how crucial having an email list is to monetizing and growing your blog, you can catch up reading this post. One of the easiest ways to grow your email list is by creating content upgrades to your blog posts- we already covered creating incentives right here. Today we will talk about creating a free email course, which is another great way of growing your email list. I’ve had the most success with this method. My free “start a blog* course not only helped me get 1,000 email subscribers in just the first 30 days, but it also connected me with some pretty amazing people, whom I got to introduce to the world of blogging. If I’m being honest, I REALLY wanted to create this course for a while, but kind of dreaded finally sitting down and setting everything up. Turns out, when I finally did sit down to do it, it only took me about 2 hours! See, one of the most amazing things about blogging is that you never stop learning. And, the easiest way […]

Blog Tips: How to Fix a Bad Photo in Photoshop

Shooting and editing are my favorite things to work on in terms of blogging. If I could, I’d spend hours, every single night, just editing photos. There is just something incredibly rewarding, satisfying and… a little bit soothing about the entire process. Also, here’s a little secret: my Instagram and blog images never look all bright and pretty when I upload them to the computer. One of the best things you can do, as a beginner, is to understand how your camera works. Despite my love for bright photos, most of my images are actually on the dark side when imported to my computer, and that is because in order to get a sharp image, you sometimes, depending on your light source, have to sacrifice other things, such as brightness of your image. This post explains this relationship in detail. If you’re just getting familiar with Photoshop, YouTube can be your best friend here. There are so many amazing channels out there and so many great tutorials (Phlern is one of my personal favorites), there literally are hundreds of different ways to do things in Photoshop. In this post, I will focus on very simple and quick fixes that you can […]

Growing Your Email List: How to Add Content Upgrades to Your Blog

The following content contains referral links. Read my disclosure policy for more info. In today’s Blog Tips post, we’re focusing on growing your email list and creating incentives/content upgrades that will help you grow your list. Ahh… “the list.” Okay, first, let’s talk about the importance of growing your email list. Why is an email list a must for any blogger and biz owner? Well, let’s see. If you’ve been blogging for a while, then you know that some years ago, before the huge rise and growth of social media and blogging itself, it was easier to get people’s attention and get them to visit and read your blog. These days, with constant algorithm changes, getting your content seen and noticed isn’t as simple (or easy). You cannot control outlets like Instagram, Facebook or Twitter- your email list, on the other hand, is something you have complete control over (just like your WordPress blog). Here’s why having an email list is important if you ever plan on monetizing your blog: It allows you to connect with your audience + build strong relationships. It’s reliable. Unlike with social media platforms, you have complete control over your email list. Email marketing has higher conversion […]

Increasing Your Blog Traffic + Sales With One Simple Step

The following content includes referral links. Read my disclosure policy for more If you missed my post talking about why you should (or shouldn’t) go with a self-hosted blog, you can read it here. Since launching my free Start a Blog 7-Day Email Course, I’ve received a TON of emails and/or comments, asking about the difference between my recommended hosts (SiteGround and KnownHost) and some of the most “popular” hosts recommended by many professional bloggers like Bluehost and HostGator. It seems almost as if every single person that reached out to me who already had a blog, was hosting it on Bluehost. WEB HOSTING: INCREASING YOUR BLOG TRAFFIC + SALES WITH 1 SIMPLE STEP To those who are with Bluehost, I had one thing to say: run. Their shared servers are overstuffed, sites/blogs are constantly crashing and their only solution is to usually suggest going with a larger plan. I personally cannot speak for having experience with Bluehost, but I talked to a ton of bloggers who hosted with them at some point and none of them were too happy- but don’t just take my word for it- just read this, this or this. I even heard horror stories where bloggers lost the […]
