Lovin’ Lately

The following content contains referral links and or PR/Gifted products (*). Read my disclosure policy for more info. I know that we’re just now getting that true, winter weather. I can’t help but daydream about Spring already. Using my favorite Spring fragrance never fails to put a smile on my face and makes me feel like warm weather is just around the corner. Fresh Beauty’s Cannabis Santal is one of those fragrances, with wild strawberry, rose and vanilla musk. I have a lot of love for unisex scents- especially ones that are such a good mix of musky and fruity notes, like this one.  Jo Malone’s Peony & Blush Suede is another current favorite that I can’t seem to get enough of, as is AnOther 13 by Lel Labo. AnOther 13 has woody ambery, moss and musk notes and it’s one of the most beautiful scents I’ve ever used. I really do wish that the scent was more lasting though. Before I got the bottle, I went through many, many samples and for some reason, those were a lot more long-lasting. It’s an absolutely gorgeous and unique scent, unlike anything else I’ve ever used, but I do wish that it lasted throughout […]

Make it Glow: How to Revive Dull Skin

What is the first thing you do when you notice your skin looking dull and tired? Clean up your diet? Start drinking more water? Add a new product to your routine? Treat yourself to a facial? Whenever my skin looks a bit dull and, well, sad- it’s pretty much always due to lack of sleep and not drinking enough water. If I travel, change up my routine or don’t manage my stress well, when I’m very busy- it immediately shows on my skin. During those busy or stressful periods in life, we often forget to include those little self-care rituals to our routine. This includes things like staying hydrated, keeping a healthy diet and getting enough sleep. All of those things are important, not just for your overall wellbeing, but also for your skin. No need to panic though, as there are quite a few products that can help you get that glow and revive dull skin. MAKE IT GLOW: HOW TO REVIVE DULL SKIN Whether I’m wearing makeup or not, my skin tends to feel quite dehydrated and dry during the day. One of the best and easiest way to soothe it is with a face mist. I’ve said […]

The Everyday Makeup Bag

They say you can find pretty much anything in a woman’s handbag. Well, I wouldn’t say that I carry everything in mine, although that’s not for the lack of trying. One of my friends though, absolutely does have everything in her bag. I mean, she is a mom, so that might explain her superpower of having a very rich inventory that all magically fits into an average-sized, “everyday” handbag. Traveling with her is the best. Need makeup wipes? She’s got them. Rubbing alcohol? She’s got it. Stain removing pen? Yup. Got that too. Just the other day I had an awful attack of bad back pain and didn’t have any lidocaine patches or nerve pain medication with me. “You want some ibuprofen?” She asked while digging through her handbag. “No, thanks, that won’t help. I’ll take some heroin though, you got any?” I said jokingly. She chuckled while still digging through her handbag, then looked up at me with a curious smile. “Oh God, please do not answer that!” I said. Everyone burst out laughing because she’s just known to have e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g under the Sun in that little bag of hers. I now try to minimize the amount of stuff […]

Beauty Gifts: When to Splurge + What to Get + How to Save $

Beauty Gifts 2019 The following content contains referral links and or PR/Gifted products (*). Read my disclosure policy for more info. A beauty lover or a makeup enthusiast might seem to be among the easiest people to shop for. There are so many gorgeous kits and beauty gift sets released this time of year, it’s almost overwhelming. At the same time, those who are really into makeup or skincare tend to already have a large collection of products. You also have to take things like their skin type, skin tone or lifestyle into consideration (if someone is vegan or has allergies, for instance). Luckily, there’s a bit of something for everyone here- and gift receipts are always a good idea. LUXURY BEAUTY GIFTS When it comes to luxury makeup gifts the options are… well, pretty much endless. There are hundreds of beautiful products to pick from, but going for universally flattering colors is a good rule to stick to. Multi-product palettes like the Hourglass Ambient Lightighting Edit make for good gifts, but they’re not always a one-size-fits-all kind of a thing (as gorgeous of a product as it is though, as discussed in my review, the value isn’t there). One luxury makeup […]

Tinted Lip Balms to Love in Winter

Cold, windy, dry weather and chronic dry lips don’t mix very well. Shocker, right? Those with chronic dry lips will know that while they’re usually dry, regardless of the season or weather, winter can take it to another level. This is why I love reaching for tinted lip balms that give me just a touch of color while also nourishing and hydrating at the same time. Not many lipsticks will give you that, which why I tend to stick to tinted balms during the day- either alone or worn under lipstick. It’s hard to pick just one and on any given day I carry at least five different kinds in my handbag. These are some I currently rotate between.  Sara Happ The Lip Slip: One Luxe Balm– deeply hydrating balm formulated with natural restorative oils that leaves lips feeling smooth and soft. It also adds a beautiful, baby-pink touch of color and delicate shimmer.  Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment– these tinted balms have been among some of my favorites for years. They’re hydrating, smoothing and help with uneven texture and dryness. With SPF 15 they also offer sun protection (which your lips need too, and it can’t be overlooked during winter) […]
