Winter Self-Care Ideas Officially, it might have just begun, but I’m already so over Winter. You know, juuuust a little bit. I was driving home from work the other day and couldn’t help but think to myself “holy shit this looks so beautiful!” The freezing rain from the night before transformed all the trees into these enormous, fairytale-like crystals that sparkled in the Sun. Then I got home, got out my car and thought “holy shit it’s freezing I can’t take this!!” It’s not that I don’t like Winter. I’m probably not alone in saying that I don’t always love cold weather though. Most days are all good, but there are times when being buried underneath all kinds of layers of clothing drives me a little crazy. It’s freezing cold outside, then you walk into a supermarket or a drugstore and it’s like 100 degrees. You walk around and start getting hot, only to walk out in the cold again a few minutes later. If you have dry skin, that’s another thing you need to pay extra attention to. Otherwise, the dry, cold air makes you feel like your skin is yet another layer of clothing. One that kind of […]

The skincare world is definitely not a “one size fits all” kind of a thing. I love the fact that we’re all becoming more knowledgeable in terms of our skin’s needs and product ingredients. I mean, as long as you don’t take skincare advice from those viral DIY recipes you can sometimes find on Pinterest. One of the most interesting product ranges I’ve been using over the last month or so, have to be Samaya* products. It’s an all-natural brand of products based on Ayurvedic principles that are supposed to help you find a “perfect balance”- starting with your skin. According to the ancient Ayurveda holistic healing system, every one of us has a unique mix of three mind and body principles, which create specific traits and characteristics. Those three principles are called doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. On their website, Samaya offers a quick test to help determine your dominant dosha and you can then explore personalized product recommendations. The quick quiz found that my dominant dosha is Vata which Samaya describe as “Energetic and creative in balance, but worried, tired and […]

2018 was a year of change. It was another year where I didn’t get to do or try too many things that I had hoped to do and try. Even though it wasn’t for a lack of effort, it still felt like a bit of a failure on my part. It wasn’t until towards the end of this year, that I realized that sometimes you can’t help but slow down and play the cards you’re dealt. For me, it was taking a break and focusing on my health- which isn’t always easy to do when you’re a bit of a workaholic and get all your energy from being active. “Taking it easy” is not always as “easy” as it might seem. I hope that 2019 will be filled with health, leaving the “bad” behind, and continuing to make dreams come true- this is what I wish for, for myself and all of you guys. Some of my favorite posts to write this past year were also some of the most honest pieces. As I struggled with change, feeling lost and confused, I learned a lot along the way and shared my thoughts in posts like Leaving the Past Behind + Learning […]

Affiliate marketing for bloggers: everything you need to know when starting out. The following content includes referral links. Read my disclosure policy for more info. One of the most frequent questions I get asked by new bloggers is: how do I monetize my blog? Most of the time, people assume that display ads are the way to go, but the truth is that unless you get a ton of traffic, you won’t make a whole lot of money. If you’re just starting out, I’d stay away from ads. With small traffic, you’ll end up making a few bucks a month. With most popular networks, like Google AdSense, there is a $100.00 payment threshold, meaning you cannot get paid until you make $100.00 dollars. When you’re a new blogger, this can take months. Now, with affiliate marketing, you can make anywhere between a few dollars to a couple of hundred dollars PER SALE. The cool thing about affiliate marketing is that you can start making money from day one. So… What is affiliate marketing? It’s an easy way to make money with your blog without having to create (and sell) your own product. To put it in very simple terms, it’s basically earning a commission from a […]
