Physicians Formula Nude Wear Glow Nude Blush has been around the drugstores for a while now, but I only got my hands on it now, nearly a year after its release. I now wish I didn’t.
I was looking for a nice, drugstore brand blush that would be subtle enough for an every day use (despite being a huge makeup lover, you won’t catch me wearing a lot of makeup on a “workday”). As I was browsing through the isles at Ulta, I stopped by Physicians Formula stand. That’s something I tend to do often, but usually walk out empty handed. Yes I think that their Mineral Wear Airbrushing powder is fabulous, and yes few of their bronzing powders are amongst my favorite, but I’ve also tried a fair amount of disappointing products from Physicians Formula as well, not to mention being a bit (if not very) overpriced for a drugstore brand.
In all honesty, it was the packaging that stole my heart. Isn’t it adorable? I love the little bow detail, love that there is a compact mirror and despite having such pretty and detailed design, it’s very sturdy.
Now for the product itself.. The color that I went with is “Rose”, I thought that it looked bright, but subtle enough for my fair skin tone. Turns out that that it’s a subtle as it gets. As in.. almost translucent. This is what Physicans Formula says about the product: “Beautiful Bare Skin Effect. Skin-Glowing Finish. Look Flawless Without Looking Made Up! Enhances Skin’s Natural Glow!” This blush gives off minimal, minimal color and in order for it to show through the product really needs to be packed on heavily, which in turn enhances any dry and rough patches on the skin.
The swatches of this blush were a pain to photograph. The pigmentation is so very light that my camera could barely pick it up. I read another review on a different beauty blog saying that this blush lasted on someone’s skin for over 6 hours. After I was done taking these swatches I just brushed my arm with my hand and there were no traces of the product left on my skin. I think that it lasted a while longer on my cheeks, but it was hard to tell as the color barely showed up.
I’m not saying that this is a horrible product, it’s just that it did absolutely nothing for me. I basically spend fifteen bucks for a cute box, but that’s what I get for buying something just because it looks “cute and pretty” ;) . Plus side is that it’s formulated with no irritants, it’s hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, gluten free, paraben-free and non-comodegenic. I think that because of how subtle it is and because of its gentle formula I can get away with giving this away to one of my nieces. They’ll have a lot more fun playing around with it than I did.

October 28, 2014 at 12:36 pmOh no! I’m so sad to hear that this product wasn’t good. I use the Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Blush and it’s one of my favorites because the pigmentation is crazy good. I always passed by this product because I’m all about a bold cheek. Glad I never bought it now! I totally agree, their products are over priced, but their packaging is spot on. Way too cute!

October 28, 2014 at 6:42 pmAww so sorry it didn’t work out the way you wanted Paula, always such a shame when that happens :/ Especially as it looks so promising, (but then again all your stunning photography does my love), my eyes literally lit up when I saw the first photo, agreed it looks totally adorable and so easy to fall for! My eyes soon fizzled out in disappointment for you as soon as I knew the outcome! :P
Understand completely why it did nothing for you Paula, what a shame; I mean yikes at that longevity! :O Your swatches really show how lacklustre the colour is, so sad for you! I can see why you thought it would be bright as again the presentation is so promising! Ahh, thanks for another fab review love, fantastic that it’s filled with your trademark honesty and truth but so sorry it didn’t work out! Am sure your nieces will be delighted though :D ;)

October 29, 2014 at 1:21 pmAhh, sorry to hear that it wasn’t a great blush! I hate it when the camera doesn’t pick up the colour properly!
At least you’re now a proud owner of an adorable box ;)
