I love facial mists. I really, REALLY love facial mists. I don’t think much compares to that feeling of a cool, refreshing mist on your skin, whether it be during winter, when your skin is dehydrated or during a hot summer day when it needs some of that soothing, nourishing love.
One of the first things I usually do after I get home from work is take off my makeup (like, right away) and have a nice workout. Right after washing my face my skin usually feels a bit tight and dry and that’s when I like to use one my favorite mists. This not only gives my skin a nice boost of hydration, but it’s also like a nice, refreshing shot of energy and that’s something I can definitely use right before I put myself through a 40 minute workout. I use facial mists whenever my skin needs a little pick-me-up during the day, when my makeup needs refreshing, or when my skin feels dehydrated or dry. Here are six of my must-have face mists (all of which are great for sensitive and/or acne-prone skin):
Evian Mineral Water Spray– This was one of the first facial mists I’ve ever tried and still love it as much as I did the first time I’ve used it. I pretty much always have a travel size (pictured here) of this spray in my bag, especially during hot summer days. It’s not only refreshing, but it also helps to remove ocean salt and pool chlorine from your skin (summer must-have much?). It’s awesome for setting your makeup if your skin is on the dry side and feels a bit tight after applying foundation or powder. This travel size is also TSA-approved, which makes in an in-flight essential.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater– I don’t even remember how many times I’ve mentioned this spray here on the blog, or how many bottles of this I went through over the last couple of years. It’s one of my favorite skincare products, ever. I’m not usually a fan of rose-scented products, but this one is so incredibly subtle and delicate, I can’t help but love it. It’s made with aloe and a mix of herbs that help to calm and soothe the skin. The combo of the incredible scent and skin-loving ingredients feels so rejuvenating and revitalizing; I find myself reaching for this mist a lot more often than the other. Using it is my favorite step in my skincare routine.
Avene Thermal Spring Water– This spray is very much like Evian Mineral Water and similarly, it’s scent-free. It’s free of preservatives, hypoallergenic and a heaven-sent for both winter dryness and summer heat. I think that one thing that I like a bit better about Avene’s spray, is that it has a nicer packaging than Evian that feels more sturdy. This unique packaging technology also guarantees the product’s biological purity and effectiveness. This is a great choice for even very sensitive skin types.
Caudalie Grape Water– This 100% grape water spray is enriched with moisturizing polysaccharides and mineral salts. It has a barely detectable scent of raisins, so it’s almost scent-free. This feels a bit more special than mineral water sprays, not only because of the delicate scent, but also more because the grape extract feels more hydrating than mineral water, all while being gentle on the skin. When my skin is on a very dry side, I like mixing this spray with my foundation to prevent my skin from flaking. I also like using this on my neck and chest right after a shower, before applying my lotion or body oil.
c.Booth Honey Almond Nourishing Dry Oil Mist– This dry oil mist was just featured in my February favorites. It’s very different from other mists mentioned here, because it’s a dry oil, so it leaves a gorgeous sheen and glow on the skin, without being overly greasy. It has an incredible, sweet scent that’s not only very pleasant, but actually, lingers on the skin and is very calming. I love using this on my face, but think it’s even better when used all over the body, especially at night. I also really like a body butter version of this product and love layering both of them; I first use the dry oil mist and then follow up with the body butter. This is great for dry skin since it’s very soothing and nourishing.
Arcona Mineral Magic– Arcona has got to be one of my favorite skincare brands. It’s pricey, but their products are always very effective, including this Mineral Magic mist. This gem is protects, firms and strengthens skin. It’s rich in vitamins, minerals and formulated with chlorophyll that deflects free radicals and replenishes the skin, colloidal silver, copper regenerate and green tea extract. Unlike other mists, this one provides results that can not only be felt on the skin, but are also visible. With regular use I can see my skin looking brighter, it has a nice glow and overall looks more healthy. Mineral Magic, however, may not be a good choice for extremely sensitive skin, but it is pretty nice for acne-prone skin as it helps to heal breakouts. After first use I did notice that my skin felt a bit off, not really irritated, but also not entirely comfortable, I also experienced some temporary redness. I actually considered returning this at first, but I’m very glad that I decided to give this mist another chance, as this only happened the first I used the product. Mineral Magic is the newest addition to my skincare routine and I can already tell that the more I use the better my skin looks.
Do you love facials mists as much as I do? If so, what is your favorite?
