I’ve been on a bit of a drugstore beauty binge lately. One of the many newly released products that I picked up recently is Maybelline Facestudio Master Contour Compact in Light/Medium.
This is what Maybelline says about this product:
“Master face contouring on the go with this all-in-one palette – contouring brush included Define and highlight in a New York minute with this effortless 3-step face contouring kit Pro palette with three color shades – the contoured face … now made easy.”
Maybelline Facestudio Master Contour Compact ($12.99) is a contour/blush/highlight trio that comes in two shades: Light/Medium and Medium/Deep and is part of Maybelline’s Spring 2016 collection. Here are my thoughts.
What I like about it:
-despite being a drugstore product, the highlight shade isn’t glittery or chunky, it has pretty, golden undertones and adds a nice glow
-the formula is quite smooth
-the product has nice color payoff that isn’t too intense and looks very natural on skin
-the contour shade isn’t muddy or orange and works great with my light skin tone
-it blends well and all three shades work together nicely
What I don’t like:
-the packing isn’t as sturdy as I’ve hoped, I also really wish that it came with a mirror
-the brush included in this palette is useless, which to me, is a norm when it comes to drugstore products
-it tends to fade out a little bit after only a few hours so it’s definitely not a very long-lasting product
-even though this also comes in a Medium/Deep shade, I don’t know if it would work well with deeper skin tones
As you know, I love delicate, natural contour and I think that this product perfect just for that. It’s natural-looking, easy to use and blends nicely. If you love intense and very obvious contour, you will definitely not like this little palette. I think that it’s a nice drugstore product and I’ll be getting a lot of use out of it on those minimal-makeup days. You can see this palette in action right here.

December 29, 2015 at 7:12 pmLove the fact they have done a 3in1 and I’m liking the blush shade but the contour is leaning a little too warm for me! Will have to keep and eye out for this and the medium shade in the UK!

December 29, 2015 at 11:30 pmIt looks beautiful! I definitely don’t like obvious contour, so it sounds great! I have a light complexion as well, so I’ll have to try it out…
And I agree, all drugstore brushes are useless- myself, I love the brushes from Sephora and the beauty blenders from Forever 21!
