Maybelline Color Blur Cream Matte Lip Pencils

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these gorgeous, matte lip pencils from Maybelline as soon as I saw them post about this new release on their Instagram page. I finally found these at Walmart the other day and I couldn’t love them more. Not even if I tried.

new Maybelline Color Blur Cream Matte Lip Pencils

The whole “blur” concept of these Maybelline Color Blur Cream Matte Lip Pencils was a bit confusing to me at first. In addition to having a colored pencil, these also have a soft, silicone applicator on the other side. The whole idea is to use that applicator to blur out the product for a softer, less pigmented look. To be quite honest, I found that blurring applicator useless. I don’t feel that it helped to blur out the product at all. Usually, if I want to go for a softer look, I just use a very light hand, or blot my lip product with a soft tissue.

Now that you’ve heard the “bad”, it’s time for the good. These pencils are freaking awesome. I believe that they are supposed to be an updated equivalent of a similar product released by Maybelline overseas some time a go. The feel and look of these on the lips are both incredibly luxurious. The formula is so soft, creamy and velvety, I found it hard to believe that I got these from a drugstore. Despite having a matte finish these wear very comfortable and are not drying. The staying power, I’d say was about 3 hours, but they do last a long longer when applied on top of a lip primer.

Four colors that I picked up are Pink Insanity, Berry Misbehaved, Fast & Fuchsia and I like to Mauve it. All of these are so fun, vivid, bright and absolutely perfect for summer. I actually found it very surprising, but the colors of the packaging matched the shade of an actual product perfectly. I’ve been wearing “I Like to Mauve it” every single day. It really reminds me of NYX’s Audrey, which is one of my favorite everyday colors.

These look amazing! I love how they have a smaller pencil tip than most other chubby lip pencils out there! I too will be waiting impatiently until they are in the UK!

Ok I will be impatiently waiting for these to hit UK stores, they look amazing! I wonder if the ‘blurring’ part of them would work bette as a primer before applying the lip colour?

The blurring tip doesn’t dispense any product, it’s just a silicone/plastic tip :)

Oh I’m glad I saw this review, thanks for pointing it out. I saw the blur thing and thought it was just a gimmick so I skipped it. I’m not a big fan of matte lip products because most are dry, but I do know there are some good ones out there. Sounds like I need to get this from my next Target trip. I’m loving the Mauve it shade.
