Lovin’ Lately

Why make me fall in love with a product, just to take it away from me after only three short years we’ve had together?

Is it really too much to ask for a little heads-up? I mean, just send me an email saying “you buy this a lot, better stock up!” no?

Pretty sure I’m not the only one who could use such service, so you know, just putting it out into the Universe, hoping it will listen.

The victim, this time, was Guerlain’s Météorites Baby Glow Light-Revealing Foundation. Although no, I probably should be considered to be the victim here, ya know? Kidding, of course. (I think)

Favorite fragrance this fall: Molton Brown’s Flora Luminare*, part of their Eau de Parfum Collective. It’s a bit of an unusual fragrance to be a favorite for me since I don’t gravitate toward floral fragrances too often. This one, however, has earthy base notes of musk, sandalwood, and cedarwood, all of which I love. With top notes being mandarin + bitter almond and softening into intense neroli, jasmine, and rose absolute.

It comes in a collective and refillable glass flacon, which is stunning. Despite intense floral heart, this scent wears quite heavy and warm on me, which makes it a perfect choice for this time of year. It is quite strong at first but softens very nicely throughout the day- LOVE.

Dior’s Backstage Face & Body Foundation has been a new favorite since it came out. Such a lightweight formula, buildable coverage, and natural finish- definitely one of my most-used base products this year. The only thing that I struggle with is the shade selection- which, I mean is kind of big deal since it is a foundation. At the same time, I also can’t say I’m not used to it at this point. 0 is too light, and 1 is too dark- most of the time I end up mixing the two. It’s always been a struggle and in all honesty, I’ve given up asking to be shade-matched at Sephora. Every single time I do, I step outside, look in the mirror and look either too orange or too pink.

Lately, I’ve also been loving the Backstage Face & Body Primer. It’s a great match not just for this foundation, but also many others I’ve paired it up with. I even like wearing it alone. Works very well with dry skin, doesn’t feel heavy or slippery, it blurs the skin giving it a bit of that airbrushed feel and it’s quite hydrating.

Jo Malone Peony Blush & Suade is another scent I’ve been wearing quite often lately. It’s much more subtle than Flora Luminare. It’s a very clean and fresh fragrance with a touch of red apple and hints of jasmine, rose and gillyflower. This, again, is a floral combination, but I find the notes of musky suede/leather to be much more prominent and would go as far as to say that this could pass as a unisex cologne.

I swatched and reviewed this year’s Ambient Lighting Edit Ghost Face Palette from Hourglass right here. Even though I do feel like these are getting a little repetitive, and maybe even a little boring, I still love this year’s version. Really not very surprising- despite this palette being overpriced for the amount of product it contains, the Hourglass powders, blushes and bronzers are still my favorite.

Drunk Elephant’s Baby Facial is an old favorite, of course, but I haven’t been reaching for it very often during summer. My skin didn’t seem to need a lot of help in the recent months and apart from some hormonal breakouts, it’s been behaving nicely. Now that it’s been a couple of months since my last Fraxel treatment and with the weather changing, I went back to using Baby Facial. It’s such a good product for congested and acne-prone skin.

I always forget how much I like it until I stop using it for a while, and then go back. I just really can’t say I have a lot of love for the packaging- it’s cute, but I always seem to get a bottle where the applicator doesn’t dispense the product well. Interesting because my sister never has this problem?

Love Dior for their foundations, hate them for their cold heart. I’m on my last emergency jar Dior’s Creme de Rose and still haven’t found anything remotely similar in texture and formula. This one is even more difficult to let go than the Guerlain foundation because it’s been around for much longer. Very much a cult classic. Oh well. Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is not very similar, but it’s another intense treatment that helps with dry lips. It’s a nighttime favorite and my cold-weather must-have.

NCLA Beauty nail lacquers in Rose Sheer (bottom) Hollywood Hills Hot Number (middle) and Call My Agent (top). I really love their formula and color selection. They’re vegan, easy to work with, long-lasting with a smooth, glossy finish. Some colors aren’t very opaque and need more than two layers, but you can’t have it all now, can you?

Anything fun that you’ve been lovin’ lately?
