It’s back to basics this week! I gave my nails a little rest and haven’t painted them for the past couple of days, and I have to say that I couldn’t help but feel a bit “naked”. Yesterday I stopped by Target and picked up “Limo-scene” by Essie. I wanted to try something new, basic and a bit sheer. I already have Essie’s “Ballet slippers“, which is a similar shade, but oh well, you know me. Can never have enough nail polish.
Usually, I’m not a fan of sheer polishes, but I do tend to use them once in a while. “Limo-scene” is a a sheer, pastel pink and it’s ideal for French manicure. It’s classy, timeless, simple and very lady-like. The formula, I found, was a bit thin and streaky, but that’s usually the case with sheer colors (at least with Essie’s sheers). Two coats created a flawless “barely-there” look, but I went with three coats. One thing that I love about Essie’s polishes is the fact that regardless of how many coats I apply (usually 3 is my limit, still have to apply that top coat after that!) the formula is quick to dry, doesn’t smudge or get those little bumps on the surface. “Limo-scene” is a bit more pigmented than “Ballet-slippers” and I’m not just saying this to justify another nail polish purchase :) . If you don’t want to go as pigmented as “Fiji” but like the pink undertones and “Ballet slippers” is a bit too sheer, “Limo-scene” is a perfect mix between the two. You sort of get the best of both worlds here.
With that being said, I think I’m pretty much done with my local Target. It’s such a huge and very clean place with such nice and sweet employees, but the makeup, skincare and beauty aisles are always so freaking empty. Whenever there’s a new drugstore product that comes out, it disappears in seconds and I can never find what I want when I go there. Yesterday I also bought few skincare products from No.7, which I was so excited to try, I see my blogger friends from UK use No. 7 products all the time. Sadly I think the night cream I bought was expired (couldn’t find the date on the box, but it sort of crumbled after sitting on my face for a few minutes) :( Major sad face. I think it’s going to have to go back, unfortunately.
I was also thinking of doing a post (perhaps a video) of my entire nail polish collection with swatches. Obviously this would take sometime, but I think it would be a really fun one. Let me know what you think!

August 21, 2014 at 9:37 pmAhh the nail queen strikes again! You always choose the most beautiful Essie varnishes Paula and I absolutely adore the aptly named “Limo-scene” how cute?! :D I also love the sound of Ballet slippers, super sweet! Your nails always look so fabulously flawless, I really love how defined the shape of them are, you just have super beautiful nails I think, bottom line ;) This shade really suits you, it just looks ever so professional, sleek and elegant on you! I only have one Essie polish and I think that was a light pastel pink, but god knows where it is now haha :D Graham actually jokes that there’s a monster lurking somewhere, his body made up of all the stuff our house seems to “lose” over time. His GAP jumper, my hairbrushes, that kinda stuff!! He calls certain sections of our place “mount Everest” and jokes that one day we’re going to be featured on that extreme hoarders programme (i’ll have to email you sometime and bore you with all the gruesome details hehe) but basically yeah, my Essie nail varnish is probably living out its glory days in Timbuktu right about now :D <3
What a shame about your local Target, No.7 products are amazing and it's a real shame the store let customers down with out of date products. So bad of them! So sorry for you to hear that :( I think I might have popped into Target once, in LA last year and it's absolutely MAH-OOSIVE, so fingers crossed they improve their beauty aisles soon, they most definitely should! We have a store here in the UK called Primark, (there might even be some open in the US now), but the beauty products available can be really dodgy which is such a shame as the clothes can be amazing for their value! :)
Yes, yes, YES!!! A video would be awesome lovely! Definitely go for it! I have always loved and admired your beautiful vlogs, you are such a natural in front of the camera and just radiate gorgeousness! It would definitely be so fun! You have such a talent for vlogging beautiful, and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise <3 <3 <3
And as always Paula your photography is just strikingly stunningly beautiful! xoxo

August 28, 2014 at 2:14 pm<3<3<3 Thank you so much Love! Oh my gosh we have the same problem in my house! haha it's so weird, but I actually had jeans or dresses (brand new with tags) just disappear. All sorts of things, really, they just there one day and gone the next!
Target is great, but I just grow a bit tired of always going there and finding that all that I was interested in is always sold out. Almost every time is a waste of trip so I think I'll stay away for a while, at least from the beauty isle :)
Aww thank you so much Sophie, so glad you like my vlogs, I can't wait to get back into filming :) <3

August 21, 2014 at 10:52 pmI’m also not a huge fan of sheer polish, but I think there’s a time and a place. I have sheer polish similar to this on my nails now, actually. It’s a nice change and your nails look really pretty!! The delicate rings are a great touch!
