I Dew Care (About Multi-Masking, Among Other Things…)

I always say that things like a fragrance or colorful textures don’t really impress me in skincare, but it’s definitely a different story if we’re talking about face masks. Other than effectiveness, this is the only place in skincare where I actually enjoy a fun color or a pleasant scent- as long as it doesn’t cause any irritation. Things like a pleasant scent is definitely something fun that adds to the whole relaxing and unwinding experience of “masking.”

For the last couple of months, I’ve been rotating between and multi-masking with this cute little bunch from I Dew Care. Three of these are wash-off masks, and the other three are peel-off masks. I love mixing different ones (usually just two), as they’re perfect for multi-masking. It’s something my combo skin definitely appreciates. I Dew Care call themselves a “seriously fun skincare” and there’s definitely a lot of truth in that statement- it’s an indie skincare brand inspired by K-Beauty and you can find them (and other I Dew Care products) on MemeBox.

I Dew Care Berry Groovy* is one of their wash-off masks. This one, in particular, is a brightening glycolic mask. Some of the key ingredients include glycolic acid, raspberry extract, and strawberry seeds. I love the creamy, soft texture and was surprised at how gentle it was. It’s definitely not as intense or effective as some of my other glycolic face masks, but it’s a nice, gentler option. When I’m not as diligent with my skincare and/or diet, Berry Groovy does help to make my skin look brighter and more clear. Without a doubt, this is a great starter product for those who want to introduce glycolic face masks into their routine.

I Dew Care Sugar Kitten and Disco Kitten are both peel-off masks. Sugar Kitten is a “hydrating holographic peel-off mask” and Disco Kitten is an “illuminating diamond peel-off mask.” Both are definitely the kind of products we’d call “Insta-worthy” as they look all cute and pretty, especially once applied to the face. I found that both work very similar, which is why I’m discussing both of them at the same time. Because of the peel-off formula, they can get quite messy. I bought the little silicone applicator (don’t know why… it’s very similar to my elf one), but I found that it’s only helpful when applying the mask to my cheeks. Everywhere else, like my nose, chin, and forehead, I just use my fingers. The formula is very runny and thin, but if you’ve ever used a peel-off mask, you’ll know how to work with it. If not, well, it’s not too difficult to get used to using it, without getting it all over your bathroom sink. Another thing to remember with these is to not apply it near your hairline, as it will pull your hair out as you remove it. I mean, even though I always try to stay very careful, I always manage to get some in my hair. So, I guess this is one of those do as I say, not as I do, things. :)

I wouldn’t say that Sugar Kitten feels incredibly hydrating, but both, along with Disco Kitten, leave a nice glow to the skin and make it feel plump, bright and smooth. As they’re both so similar, I kind of wish I just picked one instead of buying both, but they will definitely not be going to waste. The little jars are cute, but I think applying these would be much easier and less messy if they came in a tube. In any case, I really like both of these, they’re perfect for a little “pick me up” when your skin looks dull and tired and for me, they both give instant results which, hello!?, I love.

Sugar Kitten over here. Looks so dreamy, doesn’t it? A really good one to try if your skin needs a little glow. I love combining this one with Space Kitten.

My favorite from this entire bunch has to be Matcha Good.* It’s not easy to find a good soothing face mask (REN does have an amazing one though) and I was really impressed with this green goodness. It’s formulated with green tea and aloe extracts, vitamin B3 and glacier water. Both the texture and the mask itself feel a little similar to one of my high-end favorites Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask. It’s not as intense in the cooling or firming department as the Fresh mask, but it also helps to soothe and calm the skin, leaving it feeling very comfortable, refreshed and balanced. I also love that it doesn’t dry completely, so it’s easy to wash off without the need to tug or rub your skin. This is a good mask to try if you need something soothing, relaxing and refreshing.

I Dew Care Cake My Day Face Mask

I Dew Care Cake My Day*-key ingredients include hyaluronic acid, squalene, and glacier water. The first thing I noticed, other than the soft texture, is the scent. This mask smells just like cake, or… icing? I don’t know, I don’t like cake, but I do enjoy the sweet, creamy scent of this face mask. It really makes you think you can eat this stuff, but you know… don’t. Cake My Day feels incredible on my dry skin, very similar to my favorite drugstore moisturizer, with the added aspect of some fun in the scent, look and texture. This one also has a wash-off formula and I usually leave it on for anywhere between five to twenty minutes. When my skin feels very dry, I really like using this before applying one of my sleeping masks at night. It helps in giving my skin that extra boost of hydration. I’m not sure how effective this mask would be for anyone whose skin is already pretty happy. I can’t imagine that it would make a ton of difference, but for my dry skin, it works really nicely.

Space Kitten is another one of the peel-off masks from I Dew Care. To be exact, this is said to be an “exfoliating galactic black peel-off mask.” Ingredients include charcoal, to absorb excess sebum, topaz powder to brighten and exfoliate and witch hazel water to cleanse pores. Just like the rest of the peel-off masks from the line, this can get a little messy. Because this particular one is targeted more towards acne-prone skin, I only use it around my nose, forehead, and chin, and avoid the rest of my face where my skin tends to get dry. The instructions do also mention to only apply this around your T-zone. This one is a bit more intense than the other two peel-off masks, so peeling it off from more delicate areas of the face like your cheeks, can be painful. After each use, I do find those oilier areas to feel more clear and balanced, but not sure if I’d say exfoliated? I get these annoying sebaceous filaments on my nose that are very difficult to keep under control and I find that using this mask twice a week does help. It kind of works like a giant pore strip, but for your entire T-zone.

Other than Sugar Kitten and Disco Kitten which are quite similar, the rest of this bunch offer something a little different, which makes them really fun products for multi-masking. After a few months of use, I can say that they’re more than just their cute packaging. Not miracle workers, but definitely products I’ll be buying again once I run out. As cute as the little jars are, I do think that the peel-off masks, in particular, would be much better and easier to use if they came in a tube.

The Matcha Good one and the I Dew Care Cake My Day one sound appealing to me, but I don’t really use much face masks anymore these days. I am too lazy.

These sound super cute! I’ve only ever multi-masked with clay, not peel offs. I don’t even think I’ve ever tried a peel off mask!

I love using masks, they just feel like such a fun treat! And I must admit, I am drawn to the pretty sparkly ones. Space Kitten sounds like it would work well for my oily chin and t-zone. x
