Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette
I’m a huge fan of Hourglass Cosmetics and as soon as I saw previews of this limited edition palette, I knew I really wanted to get my hands on it. And then the reviews rolled in..
Seeing just how many makeup lovers were disappointed by the size and product quantity of this palette, I wasn’t sure whether or not it was worth spending $80.00 on this undeniably beautiful palette.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette ($80.00) includes 6 shades:
o DIM LIGHT: A neutral peach beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights the complexion.
o IRIDESCENT STROBE LIGHT (NEW): A rose pearl powder that gives a refined glow to the complexion.
o DIFFUSED LIGHT: A soft, warm, pale yellow powder that conceals redness and gives skin clarity
o MOOD EXPOSURE: A soft plum blush fused with Mood Light to brighten the complexion.
o LUMINOUS FLUSH: A champagne rose blush fused with Luminous Light to evoke a candlelit glimmer.
o LUMINOUS BRONZE LIGHT – a medium tan shade fused with Luminous Light for a softer, candlelit warmth.
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette contains 0.049 oz of each powder, whereas previous palettes like the Ambient Lighting Palette contains 0.133oz of each powder. A full-sized Ambient Lighting Powders are priced at $45.00 for 0.35 oz, Luminous Bronze Light Ambient Lighting Blush sells for $50.00 for 0.39 oz and Mood Exposure Ambient Lighting Blush sells for $35.00 for 0.15 oz.
Okay, so here’s the thing about this palette: product quantity and value-wise, it’s hard to compare the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette to previously released palettes. I think that quality-wise, these powders are amazing and I absolutely love them. However, I have to admit that the size of the pans in this palette makes the use and the application quite tricky. Forget using a bronzer or blush brush- unless you don’t mind mixing a few of these powders together. A few weeks ago, I told you about one of my all-time favorite makeup brushes: Sephora’s Pro Small Blush and Contour Brush and I have to say that it’s about the only brush that I am able to use with this palette.
With that being said, this palette is gorgeous; it comes with a huge mirror while being small and compact, which means that it’s perfect for traveling. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it, and being a makeup junkie that I am, I just had to have it. I definitely do not regret getting it, even if I was left a bit disappointed about the size and product quantity.
I’m not entirely sure if this palette is worth the price, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t love it. Purchasing this is definitely a big splurge, and I suggest you do it only if you can afford it and don’t mind the small product quantity and small size of these pans.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette: Dim Light, Iridescent Light, Diffused Light, Mood Exposure, Luminous Flush, and Luminous Bronze Light.

November 26, 2015 at 11:25 amI love the look of this palette but I have the 3 blusher palette and they have the same shades which is so annoying as I do want the powders and bronzer as well. I remember thinking it looks really small but it’s still so pretty! Lovely photographs! xx

November 26, 2015 at 1:14 pmIt looks so stunning despite its apparently rubbish value for money! I’ve never tried hourglass and i just have to try this – it’s a great way to be introduced to the brand I feel.

November 26, 2015 at 1:45 pmI had no idea it was actually so small that you struggle with regular bronzer/blush brushes. I think I need to see it in store before I could make up my mind on it considering the high price tag. I do agree that it’s an absolute beauty though x

December 1, 2015 at 9:55 amIt’s stunning, and even though I saw pictures of it before I picked it up, I still was surprised at how small it is haha :) I love it though, I use it pretty much every day now.

November 26, 2015 at 3:09 pmThe palette is so pretty but not sure if it’s worth the value considering the size of each powder! Oh well, atleast it has a nice packaging!

November 26, 2015 at 3:25 pmI was really surprised at how small this was when I saw it in store! I already have half the shades so probably won’t bother but it is a beautiful looking palette and fab for people who don’t already own lots of Hourglass :) xx

November 26, 2015 at 6:28 pmIt’s so pretty! It’s scary how normal sized it looks in photos! I was shocked when I saw how small it was in a few videos I watched! I managed to get my hands on the limited edition blush palette from last year a few months ago and I absolutely love it but I’m not sure if I would get much use out of the top row so I will give it a miss but the blushers are amazing!

December 1, 2015 at 10:10 amI missed out on the blush palette! :( I probably wouldn’t have picked this one up, if I had the blush one :) I don’t understand the reasoning behind the pricing, but I love this palette!

November 27, 2015 at 1:26 amI own one of the blushes and not close to hitting pan so I had to avoid this sucker, it’s so pretty! I do agree that it looked really small in store, but it’s great for someone who can’t decide what colour to get!

November 27, 2015 at 1:00 pmI watched YT video that stated you get less product in this palette than a single blush! :OO That alone would keep me away from it :(

November 27, 2015 at 9:36 pmI have seen that palette in so many blogs and it looks beautiful. Sets have always the problem of getting mix together, so I avoid buying kits and sets. Nice review:)

November 28, 2015 at 12:43 pmI think this is a beautiful palette but I’m not going to buy it because I already own everything in the bottom row. I’m quite tempted by the powder palette though! xx

December 2, 2015 at 10:43 amThe more I see this the more I get the urge to buy it, but I guess I will pass it, since I have 2 blushes and the ambient lightening palette, this would be too much. But the blush shades in this palette looks absolutely gorgeous.
