If someone told me a few years a go that one of my favorite things to put on my skin is oil, I’d tell them they’re out of their mind.
Introducing oils into my skincare routine has changed my life. I use them to remove makeup and cleanse my skin, I sometimes use them in place of a serum. I’ve experimented with quite a few, and jojoba and argan oils have been my favorites for a few years now.
On my recent trip to Target one product that really caught my eye was the Garnier Clean Nourishing Cleansing Oil. What I really thought was interesting, was the fact it said to contain jojoba and macadamia oils, both of which I really like.
Turns out, the main ingredient in this oil is mineral oil and not the plant oils as advertised on the bottle (bummer, but it happens ALL. THE. TIME. with skincare). If you’ve heard about mineral oil being “bad” for your skin, then I highly suggest you do some research. I’m extremely acne-prone and use products that contain mineral oil, without an issue. In this product, it’s the mineral oil that does most of the work. It dissolves makeup (even the waterproof stuff) and softens the skin, without leaving an oily residue.
The formula is oily, but light at the same time. As soon as it comes in contact with water, it changes into a sort of a creamy liquid. I also love the packaging and I think the pump is a genius solution. Having used a lot of oils in the past, I know that a lot of them come in an inconvenient packaging, so having a bottle with a pump is pretty awesome.
This oil rinses really well, like I said, so there are no worries about greasy film or residue. If you never used oils before, then this is definitely a nice one to try if you’d like to introduce one to your skincare routine. It’s affordable and it works great. The only thing that I really had a problem with was the fragrance. It’s very light and pleasant, but I’m not usually a fan of fragrances in cleansers because sometimes they can be a bit irritating. I’ve used this oil to remove my eye makeup and didn’t experience any irritation or redness, but if you have sensitive skin, I’d be careful. Other than than, this Garnier Nourishing Cleansing oil is pretty awesome.

July 14, 2015 at 1:46 pmI’m still not sure how I feel about these oils (and would be allergic to this one anyway due to the macadamia nut oil) but it is funny how our routines can change so significantly.

July 16, 2015 at 5:13 amI also love using oils, especially in the cold winter months when my skin can use all the nourishing products. Once again though I don’t think we have this cleanser over in the UK as I’ve never spotted it in sties before, I will look out for it though x

February 9, 2017 at 5:29 pmI’ve used it and I really like it. I’ve been in my local Target, but I didn’t find it. Walmart used to sell it as well, but I guess, my local stores don’t like to cater to “old people” with dry skin.
