Only another girl could understand my reasoning behind buying makeup, but refusing to use it, just because it’s limited edition and simply “too pretty to use”.
This past week I finally cracked open this gorgeous highlighting powder by Chanel that I’ve had for quite a while now: Chanel Poudre Signée De Chanel Illuminating Powder. It’s one of the most beautiful highlighting powders I’ve used; its undertones are not too gold, not too peachy or silver, but just right. This looks incredibly flattering on my skin tone, adding just a hint of soft glow, rather than a crazy shimmer, which makes it a great option for a day-time look.
My skin is incredibly dry and irritated at the moment because I just started using a prescription cream for my acne scars, so I have to be pretty careful not to irritate it even further. One of my all-time favorite foundations is Makeup Forever’s Mat Velvet +. First, it’s a Godsend for oily skin, has great coverage but at the same time is very, very light and has an extremely natural-looking finish. It doesn’t feel heavy or cake-y and it’s also water-resistant. For an even more natural look, I’ve been also reaching out for my Camera Ready BB Cream from Smashbox.
I really like to keep my eye makeup very simple, especially if we’re talking day-time. I have love-hate relationship with Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara, and right now we’re getting along again. Maybelline’s Metal Color Tattoos in Barely Branded and Inked in Pink are great for addict a quick, subtle color. I’ve also been layering these with Elf’s Lustrous shadows in Toast and Soiree. I always fill in my eyebrows and one of my favorite products is still Tame & Frame brow pomade by NYX. Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink is also my go-to gel liner, especially if I’m in a hurry, because it doesn’t dry out as badly as others do, so I don’t have to waste time mixing it with my face oil and warm up the formula so it doesn’t tug on my eyelid.
For some color I’ve been loving Milani’s Powder Blush in Tea Rose-although it can be pretty hard to pull off “subtle” with this one because it’s so pigmented, but I love this color. If you still haven’t tried these Intense Butter Glosses by NYX, you’re seriously missing out. Tres Leches is probably my favorite shade, I’ve been using it non-stop. Another “everyday” favorite is Melted Nude lip color by Too Faced, sometimes I even layer the two together.
What products do you guys reach for when going for a simple, everyday makeup look? Do you have a hard time cracking open those limited edition products?

March 31, 2015 at 7:35 pmGirl, your photos are seriously amazing. I have bought things and then not used them because I thought they were just too pretty to touch (ahem, Guerlain Meteorites…) but I’m trying to be better!

April 1, 2015 at 8:11 amAww, thanks so much Natalie! Oh I wanted to try the Meteorites for a while now, but I always change my mind because of the price. I just ordered Guerlain’s Meteorites Baby Glow “foundation” though :D

April 1, 2015 at 9:15 pmI love seeing people’s every day makeup looks.
I totally relate to not wanting to use limited edition makeup products – I’m having the same issue with a certain Alexander McQueen/MAC eyeshadow

April 5, 2015 at 1:37 pmThis is why I refrain from buying pretty things xD it would break my heart to ruin the embossing so I stick to looking at photos of them xD I’ve really been getting into TM and bb creams again. So great for that little bit of coverage and hydration :)
