I remember when I tried the Double Wear Foundation by Estee Lauder for the very first time. All I kept seeing in the mirror was flawless, oil-free skin. I actually almost cried tears of happiness, as my skin was in a horrible condition at the time. Anyone who had suffered from bad acne at some point in their life will understand how emotional it can get at times and when your skin is so oily, most foundations can actually make it look worse. Not the Double Wear.
The good thing about being a skincare/makeup hoarder, is the fact that you get to re-discover your favorite products and fall in love with them over and over again. I haven’t used Double Wear for months, but since today I was filming a video I wanted to use something with a little more coverage. Double Wear is excellent at covering redness and keeping the oily skin at bay. I wore this foundation on my wedding day and every single special occasion event that I attended since discovering it. Double Wear is on a bit of a heavy side, but leaves the skin looking quite natural, if applied correctly. I personally find that a buffing brush or a moist beauty blender works the best. Double Wear has to be worked with fast as it does settle rather quick. Once it sets, it will not budge until you remove it and it’s probably the only foundation that I do not have to set with powder. I find that it’s easiest to use oil or oil-based makeup remover to remove the product from the skin (jojoba oil is one of my favorites to use for that purpose).
Double Wear is definitely THE best foundation for oily skin. This, however, also means that it doesn’t work too well with dry skin. The product tends to emphasize dry areas, so if you want to give it a go, make sure that your skin is moisturized very well-even if it’s on an oily side (and also remember to drink your water! My makeup always looks a lot better when I’m well hydrated.)
I’m using shade “Desert Beige”, at one point I also used “Shell”, (I was matched at the Estee Lauder counter) which was way too light and made me look like a ghost (whenever I used that shade, I was asked if I was getting sick). I think that my before and after pictures pretty much speak for themselves. (Btw, I’m wearing MAC lip liner in “Whirl” on my lips that I just told you about here)
Any Double Wear lovers out there? I know I’m not the only one! ;)

July 23, 2014 at 6:31 pmOh wow, Double Wear Foundation sounds too amazing! Estee Lauder products are something else; their Bronze Goddess range is to die for! I’ve often seen the advert for Double Wear in one of my favourite glossies and now it’s great to know it truly is worthwhile. :D I’m a nightmare at applying powder (forever forgetting) so such a novelty that with Double Wear there is no need.
So wonderful you’ve fallen in love with it again, even more so that it has such sentiment to you, what with you rocking it on your wedding day! Bet you made THE most BEAUTIFUL bride Paula :D ;) I’m so, so sorry you had such a stressful time with your skin, and am so glad you found your hero product that gave you so much happiness <3 In both these photos you look so stunning, I absolutely love that you post before and after photos, without make-up you look just as beautiful, love how your eyes stand out so piercingly :D I definitely look like an extra out of "Thriller" without make-up so wouldn't have much courage to post many (or any) pics of me on my blog without, but I absolutely love that you do (not to mention completely rocking them all with such natural ease!)
That's what I've always admired so much about you my love, you post with such honesty and courage, not just with regards to your photos but with regards to your writing style too. You are such an inspiration to me, always will be! <3
Can't wait to see your new video! ;)

July 27, 2014 at 9:36 amAww thanks so much Love! <3 I'm far away from being perfect and trust me, it's always a struggle for me whenever I want to post bare-face pictures on the blog. The truth is, I think that there's a bit much of this "perfection" everywhere, especially in the blogosphere, and after I posted my photos of my horrible skin few months a go, I actually got a lot of messages and emails from people who also had acne issues and they thanked me for putting those up, I realized that it may be something that others can relate to, so I'm not about to sit here and pretend that I'm perfect.
You always look flawless, when I saw you I couldn't believe how even more gorgeous you were in "real life" (that's a ridiculous term, but you get what I'm saying haha ), didn't even know that was possible! If you can look like that after such a long flight with all that stress, I'm pretty sure you always look just as beautiful.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for saying that Sophie, truly means the world to me. x
