It’s only a second time that I’m sporting black nails and I’m not exactly sure why. I’ve always loved deep, dark nail polishes such as burgundy and tawny bronze shades. Black, on the other hand, was a bit intimidating to me, even though I’d ALWAYS see ladies at the department stores rocking it and thought that it looked very classy and sophisticated.
Essie’s “Licorice” is a pure, jet black shade with no purple, red or brown undertones. Just what I was looking for! I’m not sure why I haven’t had a black polish in my ridiculously and unreasonably large collection. As with all dark polishes, this one is a bit difficult to work with (Seriously, why is that? Just like red lipstick, it just gets EVERYWHERE). I did my best to apply the polish evenly and after two coats have dried, I used a tiny paint brush and a nail polish remover to clean up any mistakes.
I love, love, LOVE this black polish. I think it’s safe to say that now, I pretty much own every nail polish color that there is and probably should stop buying them at this point. Oh, who am I kidding. Not. Going.To. Happen.

May 14, 2014 at 3:16 amI also love those deep dark shades of nail polish! I feel they’re just really really classy and just…FUN! But I personally prefer them when they’re not only black…but like deep burgundy or deep-deep-red-almost-black shades =D

May 14, 2014 at 10:19 amThis shade looks gorgeous on you Paula! :D I absolutely love black nail polishes too; I think they always add a bit of class and can look so subtle yet serene. They do get everywhere though.. haha it’s funny as you mentioned about red lipstick; I’m ALWAYS smudging mine and today we’ve taken a whole load of photos & mine was smudged the whole time… stupid me, somehow I didn’t notice!
