Affiliate marketing for bloggers: everything you need to know when starting out. The following content includes referral links. Read my disclosure policy for more info. One of the most frequent questions I get asked by new bloggers is: how do I monetize my blog? Most of the time, people assume that display ads are the way to go, but the truth is that unless you get a ton of traffic, you won’t make a whole lot of money. If you’re just starting out, I’d stay away from ads. With small traffic, you’ll end up making a few bucks a month. With most popular networks, like Google AdSense, there is a $100.00 payment threshold, meaning you cannot get paid until you make $100.00 dollars. When you’re a new blogger, this can take months. Now, with affiliate marketing, you can make anywhere between a few dollars to a couple of hundred dollars PER SALE. Growing your email list with Pinterest It’s been a while since we’ve discussed the importance of having an email list. If there is one thing that I wish I’d done sooner when it comes to running my blog, I’d be working on building my list. While overwhelming at first, I was surprised to learn that I was able to get my first 1,000 subscribers in short, 30 days. Creating an opt-in form and/or an incentive is easy and pretty straight-forward. Today we will talk about creating a free email course, which is another great way of growing your email list. I’ve had the most success with this method. My free “start a blog* course not only helped me get 1,000 email subscribers in just the first 30 days, but it also connected me with some pretty amazing people, whom I got to introduce to the world of blogging. If I’m being honest, I REALLY wanted to create this course for a while, but kind of dreaded finally sitting down and setting everything up. Turns out, when I finally did sit down to do it, it only took me about 2 hours! See, one of the most amazing things about blogging is that you never stop learning. And, the easiest way […]

Being busy, and being productive are two different things. Being productive means working smarter, not harder. It’s something that I’ve struggled with for the longest time. You could always hear me say “I am soooo busy” but at the end of the day, I’d do a quick recap and realize that I really didn’t get as much done as I thought. I’d feel exhausted, but in reality, I really haven’t done anything very productive. I’m sure you know that feeling. You’re sitting down to work, or plan on doing something. Then you get that notification on your phone. Is it an email? A text message? You pick up your phone (oh…you know…”real quick“) and boom. You’re distracted. You can say that when you procrastinate and put things off to be done at a later time, you’re stealing. You’re taking something away from yourself. Something you can never get back. Time. Think about it. If you were to spend only 20% of your time really focusing on those most important tasks and give 100%, you’d have more time. More time to do things you enjoy, more time to set new, bigger goals, and more time to take care of yourself (like […]
