Best Orange Lipsticks
Orange. It’s one of those colors that can be a little intimidating when it comes to makeup. But as soon as my skin catches a bit of color during those first Summer weeks I find myself reaching for orange toned reds, corals and pinks. I find that they bring out my eyes and add a nice healthy, glow to my complexion.
While I don’t think that I can pull off a true-orange lipstick (most of them just wash me out and I look ridiculous- they literally make me look like a clown) I do love me some subtle and barely-there orange undertones.
I started my orange adventure with a lipgloss: Maybelline’s Color Sensational High Shine Gloss in Captivating Coral is a fairly nicely pigmented tangerine, high gloss color. A nice, sheer option is L‘Oreal’s Colour Riche lipstick in “Fiery Veil”. It looks like very deep and bright orange, but when it’s applied it’s not very pigmented and is actually nice and subtle.
Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipstick in “Siren” is probably one of my favorites. It’s an incredibly creamy and smooth bright orange-only downside is that it fades rather quickly.
MAC “Vegas Volt” is a great, bright, coral shade-it’s a beautiful mix between orange, red and pink. As with most MAC lipsticks, it has a great formula and staying power.
Dior Addict High Shine “Orange Ovation Spotlight Coral” has a very, very glossy finish and a nice orange-y shade. I’ve had this lipstick for ages and always liked using it whenever I went out on a summer night. It has tiny bits of glitter in it and is very, very glossy, so I think that it’s a bit much to wear during the day.
NYX’s Matte “Indie Flick” is a heavily pigmented (which I love) bright orange-red. As you guys know NYX Matte Lipsticks are some of my favorites-they have an amazing staying power, great color payoff, and a beautiful, matte finish.
Last, but not least is Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in “Audacious,” which I recently reviewed right here. “Audacious” is a pink shade with, you guessed it, orange undertones. :)
Best orange lipsticks from left to right: Revlon “Siren,” NYX “Indie Flick,” Maybelline lipgloss in “Captivating Coral,” Dior Addict High Shine “Orange Ovation Spotlight Coral,” Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in “Audacious,” L’Oreal Colour Riche in “Fiery Veil,” MAC in “Vegas Volt.”
What do you guys think of orange-toned lipsticks?

July 3, 2014 at 4:56 pmOrange is a beautiful colour – I love how it pops and looks amazing. Nail colours in an orange shade are super cool but lip colours are definitely harder to pull off, as you said! The range you have chosen is fantastic, the Maybelline lip gloss does look fabulous and yes, I totally agree to your view on NYX! I own one of their lip glosses and it is perfection!
Lovely Post, Paula! <3

July 3, 2014 at 6:24 pmWhat a table of beauties. Yes, you’re right, orange can be intimidating so I choose reds and pinks but I rarely get brown in the summer so for me steering away from orange seems to be a good idea. However looking at your lot, I’m getting less and less intimidated… xx

July 7, 2014 at 8:05 pmYay, I hope I’ve convinced you to try it :) Orange-y pinks and reds are always a safe option for those of us who aren’t brave enough to go full-orange, haha ;) <3

July 3, 2014 at 6:33 pmIn love with all of these beautiful orange shades, what a stunning collection you’ve built, amazing! :D
I bet they contrast gorgeously with your dark hair Paula, and offset your skin-tone in perfect harmony ;)
I’m particularly crushing on Revlon’s “Siren” and how juicy does “Indie Flick”, bet that gives a pop of bright like no other ;) I think orange toned lipsticks are the perfect compromise to reach for when a red feels a bit too bold and you want a shot of something stronger than pink. Purples and blues are a bit too crazy for me, but orange is wonderful! I’ve tried a Revlon lip butter before in orange but it clashed horribly against my pale skin, but after seeing your stunning inspo I’m definitely tempted to give orange a go this summer!

July 7, 2014 at 8:04 pmOh yes, “Indie Flick” is so vibrant! I have to say that orange is a color that’s a bit hard to pull off for me, summer time is the only time when I feel comfortable enough to rock it ;)

July 3, 2014 at 7:32 pmI absolutely love the orange/coral lip trend. I like it a little better on my nails, because a bright orange on my lips is a little scary and kinda of hard to pull off, but I do love a sheer wash. Its super pretty and festive for summer time. Wonderful post! Thank you for the product recommendations, A girl can never have to many lippies!!

July 4, 2014 at 11:22 amWow! You have a nice collection of orange lippies. I used to wear orange lip stain and lipstick before and I love it. But as time passes by I got crazy over red and now I’m currently addicted to brown/nude shades. :)

July 8, 2014 at 2:12 pmI’m absolutely dying to get my hands on Nyx’s Indie Flick. I’m currently on a no buy until July 25th, but this will be the first thing I pick up (or try to, my Ulta is so off and on with the popular Nyx products) xo Love your blog, it’s so sleek and pretty!
